Bruins acquire Carey from Ottawa; Sens get Goloubef

The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Paul Carey from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Cody Goloubef.

Carey currently leads the AHL’s Belleville Senators in assists (22) and points (27) while skating in 29 games for the club. The seventh-year pro has also appeared in five NHL games for Ottawa this season after spending the entire 2017-18 campaign in the NHL, collecting seven goals and seven assists in 60 contests with the New York Rangers.

A native of Weymouth, Mass., Carey has totaled 84 goals and 125 assists for 209 points in 316 AHL games with Belleville, Hershey, Providence and Lake Erie. He was originally drafted by Colorado in the fifth round in 2007 and has added eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 97 career NHL games with Colorado, Washington, the Rangers and Ottawa.

Goloubef signed with Boston last summer after spending the 2017-18 season in the Calgary Flames organization. He also represented Canada at the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

A ninth-year pro, Goloubef has skated in 281 AHL games with Providence, Stockton, Cleveland, San Antonio and Springfield, totaling 31 goals and 79 assists for 110 points, including 12 points in 16 games with the P-Bruins this season. He was an AHL All-Star in 2014.

Goloubef was a second-round draft pick by Columbus in 2008, and has played 129 NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Colorado.
